- There were more fields that planted Corn on Corn. The USDA is correct in increasing corn acres this growing year.
- Much of our area was impacted by some wind and or hail. It will impact yield and make harvesting the corn more difficult this fall.
- As shown on the precipitation map moisture was plentiful this growing year. We did not see any dry fields.
- Most of the fields were showing some disease – mainly rust.
- Finally, I was anticipating an average around 225-235 given favorable moisture and growing conditions, but it wasn’t there. There is a lot of tons out there for the guy that wants to chop silage, but yields may disappoint.
